Holistic conceptualizations originate from many different sources and traditions. Some never existed in the same place and time or may be exclusive of each other. In our study of holism, we take the license of simplicity and often mix concepts which may never have existed at the same time in history or with the same culture. They may, even now, not recognized each other's validity. That does not present a problem for our purposes.
Chi enters our body from three sources:
Chi has five functions that are responsible for the soundness of our body
We are born with chi inherited from our parents and we bring chi into our bodies both as we breathe and through the food that we eat. From one perspective, the chi entering our body moves directly to its various functions along meridians. From another perspective chi is first processed in chakras and then released into the body's meridians. .
There are seven chakras. They are centers of accumulated chi in our bodies. Chakras prepare and regulate the use of chi for various body functions. Chakras are conceptualized as spinning vortices which revolve at great speed. The vibration of chi within the chakra vortices creates specific frequencies-of-chi that are both unique for each individual and also for each of the seven chakras in a person's body. The aura colors perceived by soft sight are influenced by a person's chakra frequencies. Chakra's, within an individual body, each vibrate (spin) at a different frequency consistent with specific colors. The base chakra vibrates at the frequency of the color red, the spleen is orange, plexus is yellow, heart is green, throat is blue, third-eye is indigo and crown is violet:
